The best way to prevent winter rash is to limit your exposure to cold, dry conditions for extended periods of time. However, often as we work, train, play during winter months, we need to get out in the elements

  • Body Glide® Balms are great at combating winter rash. They help you retain your skin’s natural oil and moisture. Apply your choice of balm throughout the day, especially if it may have been washed off after washing hands or cleaning.
  • Use 30 SPF sunscreen to protect yourself from damaging UV light.
  • When indoors, use a humidifiers to help keep the moisture in your skin.
  • Shower and bathe with cooler water. Sadly, long, hot showers dry out your skin.
  • Avoid any chemicals in cleaning/deodorizing that can irritate or dry out your skin. Try sticking to only all-natural products.

  • Whole Milk – The proteins in milk are anti-inflammatory and anti-itch. Use a washcloth to apply milk to affected areas.
  • Cortisone creams can also help mitigate areas affected by wind rash, or any other skin irritation you may have.

Winter rashes can get better after using these remedies. It should be advised that scratching at the rashes will only cause them to get worse and can lead to infection. If the irritation continues to get worse, please seek professional medical attention.
